The Voyage of QV66
The Voyage of QV66 is a 1978 children's novel by Penelope Lively. Set in a flooded, almost post-apocalyptic England with no people, it follows a small group of animals—a dog, a cat, a cow, a horse, a pigeon—and a mysterious figure named Stanley. They travel in a boat called QV66 to reach London Zoo so they can discover what Stanley is. Along the way they have adventures, including a parrot joining them, some travelers getting lost after ballooning, and Stanley being locked in a bank vault. It is revealed that Stanley is a monkey.
