The National Order of Merit is Bhutan’s royal honor created by King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on 7 November 2008 to recognize distinguished and meritorious service to the state. It has three classes: First Class, Second Class, and Third Class. The badge features a gold, silver, or bronze medallion with a right-profile image of the King, set inside an eight-petaled flower and an eight-pointed star, suspended from a dark orange ribbon with lighter orange borders. The award is given by the King of Bhutan.
