The Trap is a lost American silent drama from 1919 directed by Frank Reicher and starring Olive Tell. It is based on the 1915 play The Trap by Jules Eckert Goodman and Richard Harding Davis. In the United Kingdom, the film was released under the title A Woman’s Law.
Plot
Jean Carson teaches at a settlement in Alaska and is loved by two brothers, Ned Fallon and Steve Fallon. Jean marries Steve, but his drunken ways strain their marriage and she leaves him. Ned, who loves Jean, helps her and later discovers a rich gold claim. A New York broker, Bruce Graham, arrives and falls for Jean. Doc Sloan tries to blackmail Jean by claiming Steve is alive and that she committed bigamy. Sloan is killed in a confrontation; Ned is arrested but says he acted in self-defense. Jean tells Bruce the full story, and Ned is eventually acquitted at trial. Years later, Jean has two children and is happily married to Bruce, while Ned has become successful with his mine.

Preservation and release
The Trap was released on August 11, 1919, by Universal Pictures. It runs about 60–70 minutes. The film is currently considered lost. The Library of Congress lists it among the 7,200 lost U.S. silent feature films.
