The Swearing Jar is a 2022 Canadian romantic musical drama directed by Lindsay MacKay. It’s based on Kate Hewlett’s musical play and stars Adelaide Clemens as Carey, a music teacher who plans a birthday concert for her husband Simon (Patrick J. Adams). While organizing the concert, she begins to fall for the guitarist Owen (Douglas Smith). Kathleen Turner plays Bev, Simon’s mother.

The film was shot in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, in 2021. Music is by Tim Williams, with songs by Kate Hewlett. It runs 111 minutes and is in English. The Swearing Jar premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022.

Produced by Monkeys & Parrots, Farpoint Films, Middle Child Films, and MoJo Global Arts, it was distributed by LevelFilm and Gravitas Ventures. In 2023, Kate Hewlett won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Original Song for "The Swearing Song."
