VfB Stuttgart's 2009–10 season saw them compete in the Bundesliga. Manager Markus Babbel was sacked in early December with Stuttgart in 16th place. Christian Gross then took over and guided the team to a 6th‑place finish, earning a spot in the Europa League. Stuttgart reached the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League and were knocked out in the third round of the DFB-Pokal. The top scorer was Cacau with 13 goals. Home stadium: Mercedes-Benz Arena.
