The Right Juice
The Right Juice is an English-language comedy-drama filmed in the Algarve region of Portugal. It was directed by Kristjan Knigge, with a screenplay by David Butler-Cole and Kristjan Knigge. Produced by Barbara Jane Boulter and co-produced by Chris Parker, the film stars Mark Killeen, Lúcia Moniz, Miguel Damião, Ellie Chidzey, and Beau McClellan.
The story follows Oliver, a man who is broke and seeking purpose after leaving the city. He tries to grow oranges on an old farm and, with his neighbour Manel, faces unscrupulous opponents trying to exploit the valley. Oliver’s wife Sally worries about their shabby facilities, while Nesta’s presence adds tension. Principal photography took place in southern Portugal in April–May 2012. The project was funded through crowd funding, loans, and sponsorship from Holiday Inn, Intermarche, Vila Vita, LeasePlan, and other local businesses, with support from the Algarve Tourism Board and the Algarve Film Commission.
