The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Online is a free-to-play mobile tactical RPG based on the classic fighting game. Developed by PlayHit, Playcrab, and Finger Fun and published by SNK, it has been available on Android and iOS since May 5, 2016.

In the game, you form a team of up to six fighters from the KOF universe and battle through command-based battles. You tap and swipe to attack, and swiping a fighter’s icon activates special moves. Timing matters: rings appear during attacks, and hitting them at the right moment creates powerful combos with your team.

Players can train, level up, and power up their characters. The game offers story missions, solo quests, and PvP modes, including a monthly Space Battle where players compete for high rankings.

The story picks up after The King of Fighters '97, continuing the Orochi saga as Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami join forces to prevent Orochi’s return. The game also includes many content options to keep players engaged.

Over time, the game added events and crossovers with other franchises like Guilty Gear, Goblin Slayer, and Senran Kagura. It has reportedly reached over 50 million downloads worldwide. Critics like the accessible, straightforward combat, though some noted the tutorial can be lengthy. In 2019, an Android version was released in some regions by FingerFun.
