Opus Zero
Opus Zero is a 2017 Mexican-German drama film written and directed by Daniel Graham, starring Willem Dafoe. The story follows Paul, an American composer who travels to a remote Mexican village after his father dies. He goes to collect his belongings but hopes to find inspiration for a new piece or to confront his own soul. Paul does not speak Spanish and spends time talking with the villagers. A group of documentary filmmakers arrives, and through their conversations with Paul they realize they have accidentally recorded something supernatural. The film was shot in Real de Catorce, Mexico, and was released in Los Cabos on November 10, 2017. It is a Mexican-German production produced by Julio Chavezmontes, with cinematography by Matias Penachino and music by Colin Matthews. The languages are Spanish and English. On Rotten Tomatoes, Opus Zero holds a 42% rating from 12 reviews, with an average score of 5.3/10.
