The Impressionable Jon Culshaw

The Impressionable Jon Culshaw is a British satirical sketch show starring impressionist Jon Culshaw. It aired on ITV in 2004 and ran for six 30-minute episodes from 25 February to 31 March. The show was made while Culshaw also starred in BBC Two’s Dead Ringers and had connections to the ITV series Alter Ego.

Culshaw can perform more than 350 different impressions. Notable voices in the show include Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, George W. Bush and Trevor McDonald. In some sketches, real people appear on screen and interview themselves as Culshaw impersonates them, a concept that originated with Alter Ego.

The series was praised for strong production values but some critics felt it relied too heavily on impressions and that some characters weren’t fully served by the material.

Production details: produced by Richard Hearsey for Ronin Entertainment, with a 30-minute running time. Network: ITV. Starring Jon Culshaw, with supporting cast including Steve Nallon, Kevin Connelly and Tony Gubba.
