The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild is a 2022 animated comedy that follows Buck, the fearless adventurer, along with Crash and Eddie, two curious opossum brothers. The story starts when Crash and Eddie try a dangerous stunt and accidentally cause an avalanche, destroying their summer habitat. Believing they can prove they’ve got what it takes to survive on their own, the brothers sneak away at night, prompting Ellie and the others to search for them.

While exploring, Crash and Eddie stumble into the Lost World, a land filled with dinosaurs. There they reunite with Buck, who saves them from raptors and explains a bigger danger: a bipedal Protoceratops named Orson. Orson was banished for his harsh beliefs about who should rule, and he has arrived in the Lost World with plans to take control using two fire-breathing raptors.

Buck shares that he used to belong to a team that built a peaceful watering hole where animals could get along. Orson’s harsh rule threatens that peace. Buck, Zee the zorilla, and the brothers try to defend the watering hole, but Orson’s forces attack. Ellie, Manny, Sid, Diego, and even Buck’s old ally Momma the Tyrannosaurus join the defense, and Buck and Zee set aside old disagreements to work together.

In the climactic battle, Buck is captured by Orson, and the group works to rescue him. They learn that Orson controls the raptors with fire, so Crash and Eddie create their own fire by rallying fire-breathing lizards to turn the tables. The raptors chase Orson away, and the Lost World is saved. In the end, Crash and Eddie decide to stay in the Lost World with Buck and Zee, growing more mature from their adventure, though they still visit their friends back home.

Production notes and release are straightforward: the film was released as a Disney+ original on January 28, 2022, with animation work handled by Bardel Entertainment in Vancouver. Simon Pegg voices Buck, with a supporting cast that includes Vincent Tong, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Justina Machado, and others. The film was originally planned as a TV series but was redeveloped into a feature-length movie.

Reception was generally negative from critics. It drew criticisms for its animation quality and a story that didn’t feel as fresh as previous Ice Age installments. On Rotten Tomatoes, a minority of critics gave positive reviews, and Metacritic reflected generally unfavorable opinions. Despite the mixed reception, the film saw strong initial viewership on Disney+, including millions of minutes streamed in its first week.

Looking ahead, there have been discussions about more Ice Age films. In 2024 and 2025, reports indicated that a sixth main Ice Age film was in development with returning voice cast, including Pegg. In 2025, the title Ice Age: Boiling Point was announced, with a release date set for February 2027.
