Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) is a campus of the Université du Québec network in the Chicoutimi district of Saguenay, Quebec. Founded in 1959 and renamed UQAC in 1969, it has about 7,500 students and 209 professors. The urban campus includes satellite study centres in La Malbaie, Saint-Félicien, Alma and Sept-Îles. UQAC offers more than 40 undergraduate and graduate programs, including Computer Engineering, Geological Engineering and Génie unifié; a School of French language and Quebec culture; and the School of Digital Arts, Animation and Design (NAD), which joined in 2008. Since 2005 it has international programs with partner universities, and cross-registration with Université de Sherbrooke began in 2006. The university is known for research in aluminium (two centres), forestry, icing, geology and historical population studies, and it has awarded 23 honorary doctorates. Its colors are green and black, and its motto is Libre de voir plus loin (Free to see further).
