The Fantastic Jazz Harp of Dorothy Ashby
The Fantastic Jazz Harp of Dorothy Ashby is a jazz album by harpist Dorothy Ashby. It was recorded in New York City on May 3–4, 1965 and released by Atlantic Records. The album features Ashby with bassist Richard Davis, drummer Grady Tate, percussionist Willie Bobo, and an occasional horn section. It includes four original Ashby tunes and six standards. All compositions are by Dorothy Ashby except where noted. The album was produced by Arif Mardin and Ollie McLaughlin. It sits between her 1962 self-titled album and Afro-Harping (1968) in her discography. Allmusic gave it 3½ stars.
