Sqay is a South Asian martial art from Kashmir that uses a sword and shield. Nazir Ahmad Mir, a Sqay grandmaster, helped revive its popularity from the 1980s, promoted it internationally with demonstrations, and started an organization to spread Sqay worldwide. In 2023, the Indian Army's Chinar Corps organized a Sqay session for girls in Shopian district, Kashmir. Sqay was one of 43 sports at the 2023 National Games of India. The sport has international links, including groups such as GAAPSF and ISNO, and ICSQAY is a member of these networks.
