Joseph-Théophile Larochelle
Joseph-Théophile Larochelle (November 19, 1877 – October 8, 1954) was a Quebec politician. He was born near Lévis, Quebec, and spent four years working in Massachusetts. He served as a city councillor and on the Lévis school board before entering provincial politics. In 1935 he was elected as an MLA for Lévis as a candidate of the Action libérale nationale, and he soon joined Maurice Duplessis’s Union Nationale, winning re-election in 1936. He lost the 1939 election to Joseph-Georges Francoeur. Larochelle was re-elected in 1944 and 1948, becoming a minister without portfolio in 1944. In 1948 he resigned his seat in the Legislative Assembly to join the Legislative Council of Quebec for the La Salle division, where he served until his death. He died October 8, 1954 in Lévis at age 76.
