John B
John B, born John Bryn Williams in Maidenhead, England, is an English DJ and electronic music producer. He’s known for his eccentric clothes, wild hair, and innovative drum and bass tracks.
He placed 76th in DJ Magazine’s 2010 Top 100 DJs list (92nd in 2009). He started producing around age 14 and runs the Beta Recordings label with sub-labels Nu Electro, Tangent, and Chihuahua. He has released music on Formation Records, Metalheadz, and Planet Mu.
His sound often uses female vocals and trance-like synths, sometimes called "trance and bass," "trancestep," or "futurestep." He later fused electro with drum and bass in an 1980s electroclash-influenced style called "electrostep." Early in 2002 some in the drum and bass scene found this odd, but it helped him evolve. He has experimented with darkstep and jazzstep. As a DJ, he plays both drum and bass and electro house, often mixing in disco and rock.
