Barbara Nath-Wiser (born February 28, 1949, in Linz) is an Austrian-Indian doctor. She studied medicine in Vienna and, after finishing in 1978, moved to India to learn yoga. There she met Krishan Nath Baba, her teacher and later husband. In 1984 she founded Nishtha - Rural Health, Education and Environment Center in Sidhbari, Kangra Valley, Himachal Pradesh. The center offers traditional medicine along with homeopathy, acupuncture, and Ayurveda. Krishan Nath Baba died in 1986, but Barbara chose to stay in India and continue the project. She received the Two Wings Award in 2004. In 2005 she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize as part of 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005. In 2015 she was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria, at the Ritter level, for outstanding social work. She has two children.
