2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Men's 4 × 400 metres relay
The men’s 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships was held at Arena Birmingham in Birmingham on March 3–4. There were 40 athletes from 10 nations taking part.
Heats
In the heats, the Dominican Republic rested star Luguelín Santos and did not advance to the final. The United States also rested some of its stars but still qualified for the final.
Final
Poland dominated the final, with Karol Zalewski starting strongly and Jakub Krzewina anchoring the team to victory. Poland finished in 3:01.77, a new world indoor record for the event. The United States finished a close second, while Belgium took bronze. Trinidad and Tobago finished behind the medalists but set a national record as well.
Context
The previous world indoor record was 3:02.14, set by the United States in 2014, so Poland’s 3:01.77 broke the record. The heats were on March 3 at 12:32, and the final followed on March 4 at 15:58.
