The Beggar Prince

The Beggar Prince is a 1920 silent comedy film directed by William Worthington and produced by Haworth Pictures Corporation, Sessue Hayakawa’s company. It stars Sessue Hayakawa and Beatrice La Plante. The film runs about 50 minutes and was released on January 25, 1920. It is now considered a lost film.

Plot:
On a remote island, a prince who believes he can control the moon and sea tries to win a beautiful woman who does not care for him. A fisherman (also played by Hayakawa) sees the prince bothering the woman, knocks him out, swaps clothes with him, and takes over as ruler. After a while, the fisherman feels guilty and returns the throne to the exiled prince. The prince finds a peaceful life, and both men marry the women they love.
