149th New York State Legislature

Met in Albany from January 6 to April 23, 1926, during the fourth year of Governor Al Smith’s second term.

Structure and party control
- Senate: 51 members. Republicans 29, Democrats 22. Senate President: Lieutenant Governor Seymour Lowman (R). Temporary President: John Knight (R).
- Assembly: 150 members. Republicans 91, Democrats 59. Speaker: Joseph A. McGinnies (R).

Elections
- The 1925 state election (November 3, 1925) had no statewide offices up for election.
- Rhoda Fox Graves (Republican) of Gouverneur was re-elected to the Assembly and remained the only woman legislator.

Districts
- Under the 1894 Constitution, reapportioned in 1917: Senate districts were drawn so that some counties were divided into multiple districts. In particular, New York County had nine districts, Kings County eight, Bronx three, Erie three, Monroe two, Queens two, and Westchester two. Other counties had a single Senate district.
- Assembly districts consisted of contiguous areas within the same county.
