That's Why I'm Here is James Taylor's eleventh studio album, released in October 1985, four years after Dad Loves His Work. The record includes a cover of Buddy Holly's Everyday and features guest vocals from Don Henley, Joni Mitchell, Graham Nash, and Deniece Williams. My Romance isn’t on the LP or cassette versions. The singles were Everyday (Oct 1985), Only One (Jan 1986), That's Why I'm Here (Apr 1986), and Only a Dream in Rio (Aug 1986). Only One reached No. 6 on the US Adult Contemporary chart and No. 3 in Canada. Critics noted Taylor’s calm singing and melodic style, with Cash Box praising Only One and calling the title track a joyful celebration of the artist’s public life. Billboard highlighted the breezy, light rock sound that hides autobiographical themes. All songs were written by James Taylor, except where noted (the Everyday cover). The album runs about 39:52 on CD and 37:04 on vinyl, and was produced by Peter Asher, Frank Filipetti, and James Taylor. It was recorded at Right Track in New York City and AIR Studios in Montserrat and released on Columbia/Legacy.
