Telephone Booth (song)
Telephone Booth is a rock song by Australian singer Ian Moss, written by Don Walker. It was released in June 1989 as the second single from Moss's debut album, Matchbook (1989). The B-side is Answermachine Blues. The track was recorded at Rhinoceros Studios in Sydney, lasts 3:04, and was produced by Chris Lord-Alge and Ian Moss for Mushroom Records. It reached number 7 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart and made the top 30 in New Zealand.
Moss, a founding member of Cold Chisel with Don Walker, took a break after the band split in 1984 and returned to music in 1986. In 1988 he spent nine months in Los Angeles preparing material for Matchbook. His first single, Tucker's Daughter, peaked at number 2 in Australia and number 6 in New Zealand.
A Canberra Times reviewer, Kathryn Whitfield, praised Telephone Booth as a great, catchy rock song with instant appeal.
