The Light of Day (Graham Swift novel)
The Light of Day is a 2003 novel by English author Graham Swift. Set in 1997 in Wimbledon, it follows George, who prepares to visit the grave of Bob Nash in Putney Vale Cemetery on the second anniversary of Bob’s death, and then to see Sarah, who has been convicted of Bob’s murder and with whom George has fallen in love.
George recounts his involvement in the crime. He worked for Sarah as a private investigator to make sure Bob’s affair with Kristina, a Croatian refugee, had ended. The book explores love, guilt, and truth, and it received mixed reactions from readers and critics.
