Afroedura
Afroedura is a genus of African geckos in the gecko family (Gekkonidae). These lizards are commonly called rock geckos or flat geckos because their flat bodies help them hide on rock surfaces. The genus contains 34 valid species. One well-known species is the Transvaal flat gecko (Afroedura transvaalica). In 2021, four new Afroedura species were described from Angola. Scientific classification: Kingdom Animalia; Phylum Chordata; Class Reptilia; Order Squamata; Suborder Gekkota; Family Gekkonidae; Subfamily Uroplatinae; Genus Afroedura (Loveridge, 1944). Note: A binomial authority in parentheses indicates the species was originally described in a genus other than Afroedura.
