Teguh Prakosa (born 10 November 1958 in Surakarta, Central Java) is an Indonesian politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). He served as the mayor of Surakarta from July 19, 2024, to February 20, 2025, after the previous mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka became Vice President of Indonesia. He had previously served as Surakarta’s vice mayor from February 26, 2021, to July 19, 2024, and he was elected to Surakarta’s city council for three terms.

Early life and career: Prakosa grew up in Surakarta, finished high school at State High School No. 4 Surakarta, and studied sports science at Sebelas Maret University. He worked as a physical education teacher at Bhineka Karya School in Surakarta from 1986 to 2009.

Political career: He joined the PDI-P in Surakarta and became the city-level vice-treasurer in 2005. He was elected to Surakarta’s DPRD in 2009, re-elected in 2014 (and became speaker of the DPRD), and again in 2019. In 2020, he ran for mayor as the running mate of Gibran Rakibum Raka; they won with 86.1% of votes (225,326). He resigned from the DPRD on October 21, 2020. The pair were sworn in as mayor and vice mayor on February 26, 2021. When Gibran left to become Vice President in July 2024, Prakosa became mayor, serving until February 2025 after losing the 2024 election to Respati Ardi.

Personal life: He married Serlly Yusnita in 2015.
