Marvin Thompson
Marvin Thompson (born 1977 or 1978) is a British writer and teacher living in Torfaen, Wales. He was born in London to Jamaican parents. His debut poetry collection, Road Trip (Peepal Tree Press, 2020), is about black British family life and has been praised as an invigorating journey by The Guardian. Thompson won the National Poetry Competition 2020 in March 2021 with his poem The Fruit of the Spirit is Love (Galatians 5:22). He dedicated the win to his children, his parents, and to anyone who has faced discrimination.
In August 2021, he was named joint editor of Poetry Wales magazine with Zoë Brigley, but stepped down three weeks later.
