Tarun Dhillon
Tarun Dhillon, born on 18 August 1994 in Hissar, Haryana, is an Indian para-badminton player who competes mainly in SL4 for singles and SL3-SL4 for doubles. He is 170 cm tall and weighs 57 kg.
A football accident at age 8 badly damaged his knee, and after two surgeries he found badminton at age 11. He trains at Shining Star Badminton Academy in Haryana.
Dhillon has reached the top of the sport, including world No. 1 in singles SL4 in July 2022 and world No. 1 in doubles SL3-SL4 with Kumar Nitesh in March 2023. He has represented India at the Paralympics, finishing fourth in the SL4 singles at Tokyo 2020 and qualifying for Paris 2024.
Asian Para Games highlights include a gold medal in men's doubles SL3-SL4 at Hangzhou 2022 with Kumar Nitesh, along with a silver medal in 2014 and a gold in 2018. He has competed in multiple World Championships (2013 Dortmund, 2015 Stoke Mandeville, 2017 Ulsan, 2019 Basel).
Dhillon was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2022. As of 3 September 2024, his rankings were world No. 6 in men's singles SL4 and No. 4 in men's doubles with Kumar Nitesh.
