Turhan Tezol
Turhan Tezol (9 August 1932 – 27 April 2014) was a Turkish basketball player who competed in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Born in Istanbul to Mehmet Şükrü and Zeliha, he had four brothers and two sisters. He began his career with Modaspor, winning the Turkish Basketball League three times, before moving to Altınordu in Izmir.
After retiring from playing, Tezol worked as an executive for Izmir clubs Altay, Göztepe and Altınordu and for the Turkish Basketball Federation. He first joined Turkey’s junior team at 19, then played for the national team, earning 71 caps and serving as captain. He competed in EuroBasket in 1955, 1957 and 1959 and was known for his dribbling.
Tezol died in Izmir after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife Nesrin, two sons Erhan and Ersin, and five grandchildren.
