Taratap, South Australia
Taratap is a rural locality in South Australia, in the Limestone Coast region. It sits about 223 km southeast of Adelaide and about 27 km north of Kingston SE. The boundaries and name were officially set on 3 December 1998. The name comes from a Taratap triangulation station, which traces back to an Aboriginal waterhole in the Hundred of Peacock. The area is mainly used for farming. In the 2016 census, Taratap had 42 residents. It is part of the Kingston District Council local government area, in the federal division of Barker and the state electoral district of Mackillop. The postcode is 5267. Climate features include an average maximum of about 19.3°C and average minimum of about 10.4°C, with around 500 mm of rainfall per year.
