Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Tel Aviv
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Tel Aviv acts as Taiwan’s de facto embassy in Israel, since there are no formal diplomatic relations. It also handles consular services for Israel and the State of Palestine, and aims to promote cooperation in economics, culture, education, and research.
The office is on the 21st floor of the Azrieli Center, at 132 Menachem Begin Road, Tel Aviv.
It was established in March 1993 as the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Tel Aviv, following an agreement between Israel and Taiwan in November 1992. It was renamed to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Tel Aviv on September 11, 1995. Its counterpart in Taipei is the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, opened in July 1993.
Since January 2022, the representative has been Abby Ya-ping Lee, who previously served in Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
