Stan Grossfeld
Stan Grossfeld (born December 20, 1951) is an American photojournalist and associate editor at The Boston Globe. He was born in New York City and earned a B.S. in Professional Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1973. After two years at The Star-Ledger in Newark, New Jersey, he joined The Boston Globe and later earned a Master of Journalism from Boston University in 1980. Grossfeld became the Globe’s chief photographer in 1983. In 1984 he won the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography for photos showing the effects of war on people in Lebanon during the Lebanese Civil War. In 1985 he won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for pictures of the Ethiopian famine and of illegal immigrants at the Mexican border. He was named associate editor in 1987 and has photographed many subjects, including sports.
