Tablets of the Divine Plan
Tablets of the Divine Plan refers to 14 letters written by ʻAbdu'l-Bahá from March 1916 to March 1917 to Bahá’ís in the United States and Canada. The first five tablets were printed in Star of the West, Vol. VII, No. 10 (Sept. 8, 1916), and all tablets were later printed again after World War I in Star of the West, Vol. IX, No. 14 (Nov. 23, 1918), before being presented again at Ridván in 1919.
Four of the letters were addressed to the Bahá’í community of North America, and ten were addressed to five specific segments of that community. The central message empowered these readers with leadership to spread the Bahá’í Faith around the world by pioneering—introducing the religion to the many countries, regions, and islands named in the tablets.
Together with Bahá’u’lláh’s Tablet of Carmel and ʻAbdu'l-Bahá’s Will and Testament, Shoghi Effendi called these tablets three “Charters” of the Administrative Order of the Bahá’í Faith.
