Humor Times
Humor Times is an American monthly magazine and website that reviews the news with political satire. It was started in Sacramento, California, in April 1991 by publisher/editor James Israel, originally under the name Comic Press News. The name was changed to Humor Times in April 2007, its 16th anniversary.
For the first 16 years and 9 months, it was distributed free in the Sacramento area and funded by advertising. The last free issue was December 2007. Since then, Humor Times has been available in stores and by subscription, in print or digital formats.
The magazine features editorial cartoons about current events in the United States and around the world, columns by political comedians, and a fake-news section like The Onion. Notable cartoonists include Pat Bagley, Mike Baldwin, John Darkow, Mike Keefe, R. J. Matson, Mike Lane, Jeff Parker, Rob Rogers, Steve Sack, Harley Schwadron, Adam Zyglis, Michael Egan, and others. Cartoons are grouped by subject with short captions that connect them into storylines, and there are political strip cartoons as well. A satirical news section called "Faux News" parodies real stories with original content by various authors.
Humor Times is printed on newsprint with color on most pages, and the digital edition is all color. The publication has held anniversaries in Sacramento, such as a Capitol Steps show in April 2013. Website: humortimes.com
