Synod of the Trinity

Synod of the Trinity is an upper church body of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). It is headquartered in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, and covers sixteen presbyteries in Pennsylvania, most of West Virginia, and eastern Ohio. It has about 126,756 members (2021).

History and names
- Founded in 1717 as the Synod of Philadelphia after the Philadelphia Presbytery split into Philadelphia, New Castle, and Long Island.
- In 1741 the Presbytery of New Brunswick was expelled; in 1745 Jonathan Dickinson left to form the Synod of New York.
- Reunited in 1758 as the Synod of New York and Philadelphia.
- By 1882 it was known as the Synod of Pennsylvania.
- In 1973, regional judicatories were created and the synod merged with the Synod of West Virginia to become the Synod of Pennsylvania-West Virginia.
- In 1983, after church reunions, presbyteries in eastern Ohio joined and it became the Synod of the Trinity.
