2019 Selangor FA season
The 2019 season was Selangor FA’s 14th year in Malaysia’s Super League. They played home games at Shah Alam Stadium. The club’s leadership consisted of President Tengku Amir Shah, with Abdul Rauf Ahmad as manager and B. Sathianathan as head coach.

Season overview
- Pre-season and signings: Selangor appointed B. Sathianathan as head coach in late November 2018 and rebuilt the squad with several new signings and departures. The club released several players, renewed others, and added foreign and local players to strengthen the team ahead of the 2019 season.
- Pre-season friendlies included matches in Malaysia, a tour of Thailand (with wins over MOF Customs United and Thai Honda and a draw with Chonburi), and a Singapore stop where Selangor beat Home United 3-1. The team also played early friendlies against Penang, PKNP, UiTM, and Kuala Lumpur.
- League campaign: Selangor kicked off the league on 3 February 2019 with a 1-1 draw against FELDA United, followed by more results that saw them struggle early before climbing to a solid league position. A key moment came on 15 May when Ifedayo Olusegun scored a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Kedah. The team finished the season strongly, ending the league with a 3-2 win over PKNS on 20 July to secure 3rd place.
- Malaysia Cup journey: Selangor advanced from the group stage to the knockout rounds, finishing top of Group D. In the quarter-finals they beat Perak 3-2 on aggregate. In the semi-finals, Selangor faced Johor Darul Ta’zim; they lost 1-2 away and were defeated 0-3 at home (0-5 on aggregate), with Safawi Rasid scoring a hat-trick to seal Selangor’s exit.

Selangor finished 3rd in the league, reaching the Malaysia Cup semi-finals but ending the season trophyless. Ifedayo Olusegun was the standout scorer with 12 league goals (16 in all competitions), and the team saw a mix of strong wins and tough defeats throughout the year.
