Samsung SPH-i550
Samsung SPH-i550 is a Palm OS-based clamshell smartphone from Samsung, the successor to the SPH-i500. It has a 320×320 color internal display and a 128×96 external OLED screen. The rear camera takes about 1 MP photos and can record video. A built-in MP3 player is operated with external controls without opening the phone. All programs and data are stored in non-volatile flash memory, so a hard reset won’t erase information. It runs Palm OS 5.4, uses CDMA networks, and weighs about 147 g. It has 96 MB of memory and supports SD removable storage. The battery is Li-Ion 830 mAh. Availability in the US depended on Sprint; Sprint canceled plans for the i550 in April 2005. A similar model, SCH-i539, was announced in China and uses a CDMA R-UIM. There were reports of trials in Mexico, but Sprint had not released the i550.
