The women’s 100 metre butterfly at the 1992 Summer Olympics was held on 29 July at the Piscines Bernat Picornell in Barcelona. Forty-nine swimmers from 34 nations competed. In the heats, the eight fastest advanced to Final A (the medals final) and the next eight to Final B.

Gold went to Qian Hong of China with a time of 58.62 seconds, an Olympic record. Silver went to Crissy Ahmann-Leighton of the United States, and bronze to Catherine Plewinski of France.
