Benny Benassi
Marco “Benny” Benassi (born 13 July 1967) is an Italian DJ and music producer from Milan. He helped create electro house, a style that became popular after his 2002 club hit “Satisfaction.” He began his career DJing with his cousin Alle Benassi as the duo Benassi Bros., releasing music like Pumphonia (2004) and …Phobia (2005). He first gained international attention in 1997 with “Electric Flying,” and had his first big hit in 2001 as KMC with “I Feel So Fine.”
In 2003 he released his solo debut album Hypnotica, which helped bring electro-house to a wider audience. The Benassi Bros. followed with Pumphonia and later …Phobia. He won a Grammy in 2008 for Best Remix for Public Enemy’s “Bring the Noise.” In 2005 he started Pump-Kin Music to help new producers.
Benassi has worked with many famous artists, including Madonna, Chris Brown, Mika, and John Legend. His later albums include Electroman (2011) and Danceaholic (2016). He also hosts The Benny Benassi Show on Sirius XM. Today he remains an influential and active figure in dance music.
