Sutton-Newby House
Sutton-Newby House is a historic plantation house near Hertford in Perquimans County, North Carolina. Built about 1745, it is a one-and-a-half-story, four-bay frame dwelling with a brick end and a gable roof; it originally had brick ends on both sides. The house features a full-width front porch with a shed roof and a massive double-shouldered chimney. Its brickwork is laid in Flemish bond. Sutton-Newby House is part of a small group of 18th-century frame houses with brick ends in northeastern North Carolina, along with the Myers-White House and the Old Brick House. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
