Sumo at the 2022 World Games
Sumo at the 2022 World Games was held July 9–10 at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, United States. Lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight were contested on July 9, with openweight on July 10. The event was originally scheduled for July 2021 but was moved to July 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics. The Egyptian sumo team was banned from remaining events after poor sportsmanship. Due to organization and sportsmanship issues during the competition, sumo was dropped from the World Games program ahead of the 2025 edition.
