Andrew Brinn
Seaman Andrew Brinn (born c. 1829 in Scotland) was a sailor in the U.S. Navy during the American Civil War. He served on the USS Mississippi and earned the Medal of Honor for his actions at Port Hudson on March 14, 1863. Brinn stayed aboard the grounded ship under heavy enemy fire for about two and a half hours until the crew could safely abandon. He asked to be given a duty, but was ordered to save himself and leave the Mississippi, which had been deliberately set on fire to prevent its capture. He received the Medal of Honor on July 10, 1863.
