Suburban Kid is the debut solo album by Australian singer-songwriter Kevin Mitchell, who performs as Bob Evans. It was released on 8 September 2003 and recorded in 2002–2003. The folk-pop album was co-produced by Mitchell and Simon Struthers.

Mitchell, best known as the singer of Jebediah, wrote all the songs. The track "The Hermit" was co-written with Luke Steele, and Katy Steele from Little Birdy sang back-up vocals.

The first single, "Friday Come Five," came out on 18 August 2003, followed later in the year by "Turn." Both songs got heavy airplay on Triple J and good support on Triple M and community radio, with music videos shown on Rage and MTV Australia.

Bob Evans started as Mitchell’s side project in 1999 to play as a solo act in Perth, not meant to replace Jebediah. Suburban Kid draws on life in the Perth suburb of Bull Creek and was developed into a full album by 2003. Guests on the album include members from Jebediah, Ammonia, Adam Said Galore, Little Birdy, and End of Fashion.

In 2006, EMI re-released Suburban Kid after the success of Mitchell’s next Bob Evans album, Suburban Songbook. The suburb-themed, personal style continued in his later work, including Goodnight, Bull Creek! in 2009. Critics described Suburban Kid as intimate and rootsy, with honest songs about youth, love, and loss. All tracks are written by Kevin Mitchell.
