Stripe Mountain
Stripe Mountain is the highest peak in Idaho’s South Clearwater Mountains and in the Clearwater Mountains overall, part of the Bitterroot Range in the Rocky Mountains. The summit reaches 9,001 feet (2,744 meters) above sea level, and the ridgeline forms the border between Idaho County and Lemhi County. The mountain has a prominence of 2,081 feet, with Cottonwood Butte as its parent peak. The Idaho County side lies in Bitterroot National Forest, the Lemhi County side in Salmon-Challis National Forest, and the entire mountain is within the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness Area.
