Stokes Peaks
Stokes Peaks are a small group of mountains about 800 metres high, located on the north side of Wright Peninsula on Adelaide Island, Antarctica, between McCallum Pass and Sighing Peak (roughly 67°24′S, 68°9′W). They were photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition in 1956–57 and surveyed on the ground by the British Antarctic Survey in 1961–62. The peaks were named in 1977 by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee for Jeffrey C.A. Stokes, a Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey assistant surveyor who worked at Admiralty Bay (1959–60) and Adelaide Island (1960–61).
