St. George's Church, Hyderabad
St. George’s Church, Hyderabad is an active church in the Diocese of Medak, part of the Church of South India (CSI). It follows the High Anglican tradition and is a high church congregation.
Founded in 1844 by the Church Missionary Society (CMS), it was built as Christ Church on land granted by the Nizam with the approval of the British Resident. The foundation stone was laid in February 1844, and the church opened for worship on 19 September 1844. It is dedicated to St. George.
In 1947, Christ Church joined the Church of South India, a united church formed from several denominations.
Today, St. George’s Church remains active under the CSI, with the current bishop of the diocese being The Right Reverend A. C. Solomon Raj, CSI.
