Ryan Strain (born 2 April 1997) is an English-born Australian footballer who plays as a right back for Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership and for the Australia national team.

Born in Coventry, England, Strain began in the Aston Villa youth system before starting his senior career with Modbury Jets in 2015. He moved to Adelaide United, playing for their NPL side (2016–2017) and then the senior team (2017–2021). In September 2017 he signed a one-year scholarship contract with Adelaide United and, three months later, extended for two more years, becoming the 30th youth player to progress to the club’s first team.

In June 2021 Strain joined Maccabi Haifa in Israel. He moved to St Mirren in Scotland in 2022 on a two-year deal, and then joined Dundee United in 2024.

Internationally, Strain played for Australia at youth level and was named to the under-23 squad for friendlies in 2020. He made his senior debut for Australia in September 2022 in a 2–0 win over New Zealand, coming on as a substitute. He has four senior caps as of October 2023, with his first start coming on 13 October 2023 in a 1–0 loss to England at Wembley.

Strain comes from a footballing family. His grandfather Gerry Baker played for Saint Mirren from 1958 to 1960, and his mother is Lorraine Baker. His younger brother Tom Strain is an Aston Villa trainee.
