Spiralinella
Spiralinella is a genus of very small sea snails in the family Pyramidellidae. They are micromollusks, tiny gastropods that, like many pyramidellids, are probably ectoparasites on other invertebrates.
Classification: Kingdom Animalia; Phylum Mollusca; Class Gastropoda; Subcohort Panpulmonata; Superfamily Pyramidelloidea; Family Pyramidellidae; Genus Spiralinella (Chaster, 1901). The type species is Turbo spiralis Montagu, 1803.
The genus has a complicated history of synonyms, including Partulida (an unavailable name), Pyrgulina (Partulida), and Spiralina. The status of Spiralinella relative to these names was clarified by Corgan in 1973, and the nomenclatural issues around the type species were discussed by van Aartsen & Gianuzzi-Savelli in 1991. There are several species within Spiralinella, but little is known about their biology.
