Smart Omega
Smart Omega Esports is a Philippine professional esports team that competes in The Nationals, the country's top esports league, and MPL Philippines. It was formed through a partnership between Sterling Global Dragons and PLDT Inc. / Smart Communications and launched in February 2019 as PLDT–Smart Omega. The team rebranded to Smart Omega Esports in 2020.
Smart Omega fields teams in multiple games, including Dota 2, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and Tekken 7. Its coaching staff varies by game, with Dota 2 head coach Hestia joining in November 2020; Mobile Legends: Bang Bang coaches Pakbet and Ynot; Tekken 7 coach Dannel “Pica” Lozano; and Call of Duty: Mobile coach Bruce “Dev1ce” Cruz.
The team’s colors are green and blue, and it remains under the ownership and sponsorship umbrella of PLDT Inc. / Smart Communications, in partnership with Sterling Global Dragons.
In November 2021, Smart Omega was banned from Valve-sponsored events after a match-fixing scandal in the Southeast Asia Dota Pro Circuit, with several players and a coach named in the ban.
