Lucien Duquesne
Eléonor Lucien Ernest Duquesne (17 October 1900 – 7 May 1991) was a French long-distance runner who competed in the Olympic Games in 1920, 1924 and 1928. He ran in events from 3000 metres up to 10,000 metres, including the 3000 metres steeplechase, and represented clubs FC Rouen, RC Arras and Amiens SCA.
His best Olympic results were fourth in the team 3000 metres in 1920 and 1924, and sixth in the 3000 metres steeplechase in 1928. In the 1928 steeplechase semifinal, he paused to help Paavo Nurmi after a fall at the water jump; Nurmi then paced him to the final.
Duquesne also competed at the International Cross Country Championships in 1920 and 1923, finishing seventh both times and helping France win two team medals. At the British AAA Championships, he placed third in the one-mile race in 1921 and second in the four miles in 1923.
