Skeena Mountains
Skeena Mountains (Skeenas) – a short overview
The Skeena Mountains are a group of hills in northern British Columbia, Canada. They are a subrange of the Interior Mountains and form the upper part of the Skeena River basin. The range lies inland from the southern end of the Coast Mountains (near the Boundary Ranges and Kitimat Ranges).
Southern boundary: marked by the Bulkley River and the upper parts of Babine and Takla Lakes.
Northeast boundary: the upper Omineca River.
North boundary: near the Tahltan Highland, Klastline Plateau, and parts of the Stikine Plateau, including the Spatsizi Plateau.
Northwest boundary: beyond the Spatsizi Plateau are the Stikine Ranges of the Cassiar Mountains.
East boundary: the Omineca Mountains.
South of the Skeenas lies the Hazelton Mountains.
Highest point: Shedin Peak, 2,588 meters.
Area: about 32,846 square kilometers.
