Andrew Whitworth
Andrew Whitworth is a former American football player who spent 16 seasons in the NFL as an offensive tackle. He was born on December 12, 1981, in Monroe, Louisiana, and grew up in West Monroe. He played college football at LSU from 2001 to 2005 and helped LSU win a national title in 2003.
Whitworth was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2006 NFL draft. He played for Cincinnati from 2006 through 2016, earning three Pro Bowls and one first-team All-Pro during his time there. In 2017, he signed with the Los Angeles Rams and played for them until 2021, adding four Pro Bowls and two first-team All-Pro honors.
Whitworth helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI, making him one of the oldest players to win a Super Bowl and the oldest offensive lineman to do so. He retired in March 2022 at age 40 and later worked as an analyst for Amazon’s Thursday Night Football.
Over his career, Whitworth played 239 NFL games and started 235. He is known for his durability and leadership on the field. Off the field, Whitworth is a Christian and is active in charity through his BigWhit 77 Foundation, hosting golf tournaments and supporting youth programs. He and his wife Melissa have four children. In 2021, he was named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his community work, and in 2019 he received the NFLPA Alan Page Community Award. He also helped LSU’s 2003 national championship team and was named a standout All-American in college.
